Eligibility
Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1-Systemically healthy participants. 2-Age group: 20–65 years. 3-A minimum of twenty teeth present. 4-Probing pocket depth (PPD) of 5-6mm in two contralateral quadrants. 5-Smoker’s Group: Moderate smokers- 6-10 cigarettes/day & Heavy smokers (More than 11 cigarettes per day) (Jones et al, 2011)
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1-Systemically compromised patients. 2-Patients taking any other medications. 3-Patients with known allergies or hypersensitivity reactions. 4-Pregnant and lactating women. 5-Subjects who underwent periodontal treatment within a period of 6 months. 6-History of antibiotic intake at least 3 months prior. 7-History of use of mouthwashes within 4 weeks before the start of the study.
