Interventions

Intervention1: Balanced occlusion orthotic appliance: Alginate impression will be made of the maxillary arch free of voids. Cast will be prepared and clear resin material will be adjusted accordingly

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Participants between the age of 18-40 years. 2. Participants clinically diagnosed as disc displacement with reduction associated with click and pain (evaluated by Visual Analog Scale (VAS)) 3. Participants belonging to Group IIa (disc displacement with reduction) of the RDC/TMD diagnostic criteria 4. Participants providing consent for documentation and public presentation of their clinical data

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Participants above the age of 40 years 2. Participants who do not consent to be the part of research

MeasureTime frame
To compare and evaluate difference in the pain reduction between the canine guided orthotic appliance and balanced occlusion orthotic appliance in patients with disc displacement with reduction of the temporomandibular jointTimepoint: The patients will be recalled and evaluated after 15 days interval for assessment of pain using Visual Analog Scale.

MeasureTime frame
To compare the status of the clicking sound in the temporomandibular joint between the patients receiving the canine guided orthotic appliance & the balanced occlusion orthotic applianceTimepoint: The patients will be recalled & evaluated after 15 days, 1 month & upto 3 months interval for assessment of the clicking sound in the temporomandibular joint
