Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: All cases diagnosed with oral cancer over the last three years, whose tissue blocks are available in the pathology archives of the hospital as well as who will undergo operative therapy in the next three months.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: All cancers other than those mentioned in the inclusion criteria are excluded from the study.

MeasureTime frame
The use of CD34 immunohistochemistry staining, compared to conventional H&E staining, should significantly improve the identification of lymphovascular emboli (LVE) in patients with oral cancer and aid in better differentiation of LVE from retraction artifacts.Timepoint: Identification of lymphovascular emboli in oral cancer using CD34 IHC vs H&E staining. Over a period of next three months, slides and blocks will be retrived from archieve and stained, examined and the results statistically evaluated

MeasureTime frame
1. Investigate the degree of concordance between CD34 immunohistochemistry staining and H&E staining results in identifying lymphovascular emboli, exploring instances of agreement and discrepancy. 2. Correlate the presence of lymphovascular emboli identified by CD34 staining and H&E staining with other prognostic indicators such as tumor stage, grade, perineural invasion, worst pattern of invasion (WPOI), and extra-nodal extension. Timepoint: Over a period of next 3 months
