Eligibility
Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: – Diagnosed cases of atrial fibrillation of all age groups – Planned for conventional DC cardioversion – On adequate anticoagulation for at least three weeks prior to DC cardioversion or trans-esophageal ECHO showing no LA/LAA clot

Design outcomes
Primary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| To study the incremental benefit of double sequential external defibrillation in restoring sinus rhythm in patients with atrial fibrillation with failed conventional DC cardioversionTimepoint: Primary outcome will be studied immediately after cardioversion. Proportion of patients maintaining sinus rhythm will be studied at 1 month, 6 months and last followup. | — |
Secondary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| 1. To study the proportion of patients maintaining sinus rhythm at one month, six months and last followup following DC cardioversion by double sequential external defibrillation 2. To study the complications of double sequential external defibrillationTimepoint: one month, six months and last followup | — |
