Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Adult patients:18-65 years of age 2. ASA Grade I and Grade II 3. Patient posted for elective Transnasal trans-sphenoidal surgery for pituitary tumors

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. History of previous pituitary surgery 2. Patients with GCS less than 15 3. Patients with psychiatric disorders with history of any drug abuse 4. Poorly controlled Hypertension/Diabetes Mellitus 5. Ischemic heart disease 6. Pituitary apoplexy 7. History of allergy to any of the planned anaesthetic medications for the study.

Recovery profile by using BIS values Timepoint: 1.Time taken from the discontinuation of maintenance anaesthetic agent to the BIS value to reach 70 for clinical recovery (mins) 2.Time taken from the administration of reversal to the BIS value to reach 85-90 for Extubation (mins)

1.Hemodynamic parameters (Heart rate in beats/min, MAP in mmHg) 2.The total top up increments of rescue anaesthetic agent-propofol (1mg/kg) during maintenance when the BIS value exceeds more than 60. Timepoint: Heart rate and Mean arterial pressure •At baseline •At pre-intubation •At post-intubation •At BIS value of 55 •At BIS value of 70 (Recovery) •At BIS value of 85-90 (Extubation)
