Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: a. All adult patients (age = 18 years) who underwent major cancer surgery under general anesthesia at MPMMCC (Tata Memorial Centre Varanasi) between 1st January 2023 and 31st October 2023. b. Patients for whom ionized calcium levels were measured by ABG (arterial blood gas analysis) during surgery as a part of standard of care.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: a. Patients with incomplete medical records. b. Patients who did not have ABG reports done intraoperatively as a part of standard of care. c. Patients with pre-existing calcium metabolism disorders. d. Patients with concurrent surgical procedures not related to cancer.

MeasureTime frame
The incidence of ionized hypocalcemia in patients undergoing major cancer surgery under general anesthesia.Timepoint: Baseline - intraoperative, when the attending anesthetist ordered ABG report for the first time during surgery.
