Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: American Society of Anaesthesiology Physical Status 1, 2 and 3 Scheduled for elective percutaneous nephrolithomy under general anaesthesia

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Patients not willing to give consent 2. Allergy to the study drugs. 3. Infection at the site of the block. 4. Cardiovascular diseases 5. Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. 6. Other major systemic illness. 7. Patient having history of substance abuse 8. Patient with delirium and on antipsychotic medication. 9. Disorder of coagulation. 10. Patients having chronic pain and on chronic analgesic medications.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
To compare the total duration of analgesia.Timepoint: Time from injection of the drug to the patients first request for rescue analgesia or NRS score more than 4, between the two groups.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
1.To compare the pain NRS scores at rest & during cough postoperatively after extubating between the two groups. 2.To calculate the total analgesic requirement in first 24hours between the two groups. 3.To compare any complications between the two groups.Timepoint: Outcome will be assessed at the following time intervals at rest & on coughing. 0 hour, 30 minutes , 1 hour , 2 hours , 4 hours, 6hours, 8 hours , 16 hours & 24 hours.
