Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: ASA physical status 1,2 undergoing elective TURP surgery under spinal anesthesia prostate gland volume more than 45gm

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: General anesthesia, chronic/acute kidney dysfunction, pre-existing uncontrolled cardiovascular and pulmonary disease, use of diuretics, patient not consenting for study, contraindication for spinal anesthesia

Primary

MeasureTime frame
single dose of tolvaptan in preventing TURP syndrome and decrease in serum sodium levels compared to control groupTimepoint: 1) before giving tolvaptan on the day of surgery 2) one hour after resection 3) one hour after surgery
