Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1) study participants from schools sharing similarity in standard of teaching with no previous history of school based oral health education programme 2) all those children whose parents gave consent for examination

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1) Study participants with special health care needs like physically handicapped children or having any systemic diseases /conditions and under medication 2) Study subjects suffering from any maxillofacial trauma which requires emergency treatment 3) Study subjects with retained primary teeth 4) Study subjects undergoing orthodontic treatment 5) Study subjects visiting a dentist regularly or receiving oral health education through another source

I.To determine the efficiency of using conventional health education method on Oral Hygiene knowledge & practices of 12 years old school-children. II.To determine the efficiency of using audio-visual health education aids on Oral Hygiene knowledge and practices of 12 years old school-children. III.To compare the effectiveness between the conventional and audio-visual health education method of 12 years old school-children Timepoint: Giving considerations of primary preventive effects of oral health education methods in a school set-up, the present study aims to compare & evaluate the effectiveness of conventional and audio-visual aids in promoting the oral hygiene and caries status of 12 years old private school-children of Lucknow city.

To assess the plaque & gingival status of 12 years old school-children using Plaque Index & Gingival Index To suggest possible measures for improvement of school children’s oral health. Timepoint: Giving considerations of primary preventive effects of oral health education methods in a school set-up, the present study aims to compare & evaluate the effectiveness of conventional & audio-visual aids in promoting the oral hygiene and caries status of 12 years old private school-children of Lucknow city.
