Intervention1: addition of clonidine to bupivacaine: patients will be given bilateral scalp block with 20ml of 0.25 percentage bupivacaine i.e. 10ml on each side and 1mcgs per kg clonidine Frequency b

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: ASA 1 to 3 patients posted for elective craniotomy

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Patient refusal 2. Emergency cases 3. Patients with uncontrolled hypertension 4. patients with preoperative bradycardia 5. patients with ischemic heart disease or cardiac arrhythmias 6. patients with severe pulmonary or hepatic or renal disease 7. drug allergy to local anesthetic used or clonidine 8. patients on alpha blockers preoperatively

MeasureTime frame
Change in mean arterial pressure in the intra operative periodTimepoint: Pulse rate systolic blood pressure diastolic blood pressure and mean arterial pressure will be recorded At baseline 1, 3, 5 and 10 minutes after scalp block 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35 minutes after pin insertion

MeasureTime frame
1. Post operative time duration for rescue analgesic 2. Change in heart rate systolic blood pressure diastolic blood pressure and mean arterial pressure and pain score.Timepoint: Thirty minutes, first hour, second hour, fourth hour, eight hour, sixteenth hour and twenty fourth hour in post operative period.
