Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. Neonates delivered after a gestation period of over 37 weeks 2. Neonates of 1- 28 days of life 3. Neonates who are on oral feeds and last oral feed not less than 30 minutes 4. Neonates in a state of wakefulness 5. Neonates undergoing purposeful heel prick for neonatal screening 6. Neonates’ mothers willing to participate 7. Baseline cutoff pain score = 6
Exclusion criteria

| The vital parameters, pain level, and comfort level will be maintained in the normal range after the exposure of term neonates to the expressed breast milk and 25% dextrose which create an analgesic effect in infants and reduces the pain related to minor procedure such as heel prick. In addition, if the mother is unable to feed the baby like in the case of mastitis or any other pathological condition, the 25% dextrose can be used to minimize the pain. Timepoint: Immediately after heel prick (0 minutes, 2 minutes and 4 minutes) after heel prick | — |
