Eligibility
Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. Patients of age >18yrs. 2. Ischemic & hemorrhagic 3. NIHSS SCORE – 5-20 at the time of admission ,ensuring that stroke is neither mild nor devastating 4. GCS > 5 at admission 5. Only first episode stroke patients to be included.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. Cardioembolic stroke 2. Disability prior to present stroke (prestroke MRS should be 3. Posterior circulation strokes 4. Undergoing Decompressive craniectomy 5. Venous strokes to be excluded 6. Any contraindications to drugs involved(contraindications to beta blocker – asthma,chronic obstructive pulmonary disease,previous intolerance to beta blockers) 7. Another clinical need for beta blockers which cannot be met with other drugs. 8. Patients with cardiac rhythm disturbances 9. Pregnancy and lactation 10. Chronic Kidney Disease 11. Hepatic insufficiency 12. Malignancy
