Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Patients undergoing surgical fixation of hip and femur fractures 2. Intact cognition to report pain 3. Able to understand the pain assessment tool

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Exclusion criteria will be patients shifted to ICU for ventilator support, and patients unable to express the numeric rating scale due to physical disabilities or cognitive deficits. Patients with preexisting pain in the operative site
