Intervention1: 0.75% ropivacaine.: 17ml of 0.75% ropivacaine through the epidural route Control Intervention1: 0.5% levobupivacaine: 17ml of 0.5% levobupivacaine through the epidural route.

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients undergoing infra-umbilical surgeries Age 18 to 70 ASA I & II patients

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patient refusal Critically ill patients (ASA III & above) Patients with deformities of the spinal column Evidence of coagulopathy Infection at the site of the proposed epidural needle puncture Patients with mental disturbance or neurological disease Pregnant patients are excluded from the study.
