Intervention1: 5% EMLA cream: 5% EMLA cream applied over endotracheal tube cuff to prevent postoperative sore throat which is observed at 0,1,6,24th hour postoperatively. Control Intervention1: 2% LID

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients of ASA I II II of either sex of age between 18 to 65 years undergoing elective surgeries under general anesthesia using endotracheal intubation will be included in the study

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patient’s refusal, surgeries of the oral cavity and pharynx, Patients with anticipated difficult airway (mallampati class >3), previous throat pain or hoarseness history, history of local anaesthetic allergy and more than two attempts recquired for intubation will be excluded from study
