Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients who underwent AKA or BKA, emergency or elective due to any given pathology, aged above 18 years.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients who undergo AKA or BKA at a hospital other than Kasturba hospital manipal. Patients that underwent gullotine amputations

MeasureTime frame
To assess the reliability of ASEPSIS score for diagnosis surgical site infections following above knee amputation or Below knee amputation. Timepoint: Post- operative day 2, followed by alternate days until discharge, at follow up.—

MeasureTime frame
compare ASEPSIS score & the CDC criteria for SSIs, starting early intervention including relevant investigations & treatment & to estimate the incidence of SSIs following AKA & BKA.Timepoint: On post- operative day 2, followed by alternate days upto discharge, during follow up—
