Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: All critically ill patients of at least 18 years of age who were mechanically ventilated with an endotracheal tube for more than 48 hours.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Previous history of immunosuppression, prosthetic cardiac valve or valvular graft, rheumatic fever, recent gastroesophageal or intestinal injury/surgery, tracheostomy, patient refusal. Patient having pregnancy/pneumonia currently, severe multiple organ failure with Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation (APACHE) II score of more than or equal to 25 & Mechanical ventilation for more than 72 hours prior to enrolment.
