Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Children diagnosed with ADHD (fulfilling the criteria as per DSM-5TR) 2. Any gender 3. Children between age of 6 to 17years 4. Drug naive/ Not taking any psychiatric medication for at least past four weeks at the time of assessment 5. IQ within normal range (85 to115)

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Any subject diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, specific learning disorder, conduct disorder 2. All childhood psychiatric disorders except Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD) 3. Anaemia or polycythaemia, lymphopenia or lymphocytosis, neutropenia or neutrophilia, and thrombocytopenia or thrombocytosis in complete blood count analysis at baseline will be excluded from the study 4. Children with diagnosed neurological disorders - head injury, tumours, meningitis, encephalitis, organic brain syndromes (e.g. delirium, amnesia), epilepsy/ seizure disorder 5. Children with co-morbid substance dependence (except nicotine and Caffeine) 6. Patients with any acute, unstable medical/surgical illness. 7. Children not accompanied by reliable informants. 8. Body mass index if not within the 5th to 95th percentile as per Indian Academy of Paediatrics (IAP)guidelines

Primary

MeasureTime frame
To examine the change in levels of haematological markers indicative of systemic inflammation with treatment in children with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder.Timepoint: 0, 6 weeks and 12 weeks

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
To assess levels of Absolute Neutrophil Count(ANC), Absolute Lymphocyte Count (ALC), Neutrophil Lymphocyte Ratio (NLR). ? To also assess Platelet Distribution Width (PDW), Mean Platelet Volume (MPV), and Eosinophil Lymphocyte Ratio (ELR), Basophil Lymphocyte Ratio (BLR), Platelet Lymphocyte Ratio (PLR) in children with ADHD. ? To correlate baseline hematological parameters with the severity of ADHD symptoms. ? To examine the relationship between different hematological parameters and symptoms of ADHD over the course of three months.Timepoint: 0, 6 WEEKS AND 12 WEEKS
