Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: · Term babies (greater than or equal to 37 weeks of gestational age) · Singleton babies · Babies with birth weight >1500 g and < 4000 g · Babies who can be measured within 7 days after birth · Babies who are unlikely to relocate from Bangalore · Healthy school children · Age group 5 to 10 years

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: · Babies born from mothers with complicated pregnancy, GDM, PIH · Babies having congenital abnormalities · Babies with extreme birth weight lesser than 1500 g and greater than 4000 g, · Babies with sepsis and or needing admission into neonatal intensive care unit · Children with chronic disease such as congenital disorders, physical deformities and any chronic illness

MeasureTime frame
• Highlight the paradox of intra-individual DBM and address a critical knowledge gap in the determination of when exactly excess adiposity and DBM begins to appear in Indian children. • Provide evidence for early life exposures and various intermediary mechanisms that contribute to the development of intra-individual DBM in Indian children through precise and deep phenotyping measurements. Timepoint: Pri Obj 1-At birth, 3,6,9,12,24 and 36; Pri Obj 2-Baseline

MeasureTime frame
The study will provide empirical longitudinal estimates of total energy expenditure & protein deposition rates for Indian children aged 6m to 3y, measured longitudinally in the 0-3y cohort. These will provide novel, accurate estimates of energy & protein requirements needed for optimal physical growth & body composition in Indian children aged 6 m to 3y. We will also be able to examine if the TEE & protein accretion are different in children with intra-individual DBM.Timepoint: 4 timepoints for Secondary Objective ( 6, 12, 24 & 36 months)
