Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Adult subjects both vegetarian and non vegetarian with type 2 diabetes mellitus, with or without nephropathy

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: -Subjects with chronic diseases other than diabetes, requiring long term medication. -Patients on antibiotics, immunomodulators, probiotics. - Any terminal illness and end-organ failure.

Ratio of blood short chain fatty acids will be compared with serum lipid profile, glyco-Hb and fasting sugar level, physical activity index and dietary recall.Timepoint: 5 years
