Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1) ASA 1-2 2) Patients undergoing elective surgeries requiring general anaesthesia. 3) Patients who have given written informed consent.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients with history of allergy to local anaesthesia. Patients not willing to give consent. Tracheostomy Patient with laryngeal disease/surgery

MeasureTime frame
To compare the incidence of post-extubation tracheal morbidity by using Saline, Air and 2% Lignocaine in form of: Sore throat Coughing Hoarseness in voice Timepoint: 1)Sore throat will be assessed in the recovery room by visual analong score ( VAS: 0-10) after extubation At 1st min, 5th min, 10th min, 1st hour and 24th hour. 2) Cough reflex will be noted and will be graded.

MeasureTime frame
To compare the endotracheal tube cuff pressure. To evaluate the haemodynamic changes during the intraoperative period. To compare difference in volume of agent injected & volume of agent aspirated at the end of procedure. Timepoint: 1. Endotracheal cuff pressure during inflation & deflation using manometer. 2. Cuff volume of injected agent during inflation & deflation. 3. Vitals ( Pulse rate, Blood pressure, Oxygen Saturation, End tidal carbon dioxide)
