Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.Age = 65 years 2.Isolated Hip fracture patients 3.ASA physical status 1 and 2 4.Elective and emergency surgery under spinal anaesthesia

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.BMI > 30 2.Cardiac rhythm other than sinus 3.Uncontrolled hypertension, 4.Cardiac disease including cardiomyopathy and mild to severe valve disease, pulmonary hypertension, 5.Peripheral arterial disease or atherosclerosis 6.Preoperative cervical vascular ultrasound abnormalities including plaque, stenosis and anatomic variation 7.Any preexisting conditions which preclude neck ultrasonography 8.Contraindications to spinal anaesthesia (bleeding tendency, allergy to local anaesthetics, sepsis, infection of the needle insertion site) 9.Head injury 10.Patients having baseline MAP 11.Inability to understand the study information sheet; and refusal

1. Carotid artery corrected flow time 2. Respiratory variations of peak blood flow velocity of carotid artery 3. Post spinal anaesthesia hypotensionTimepoint: 1.Carotid artery variables are recorded within 30 minutes before the patient goes into operating room 2. Post Spinal Hypotension is measured for 20 minutes after administering spinal anaesthesia
