Interventions

Intervention1: Isotonic bicarbonate and Ringers lactate: 2 ml/kg/% TBSA in 1:1 ratio for 24 hours Control Intervention1: Ringers lactate: 2 ml/kg/% TBSA for 24 hours

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1) Adult patients >15 years 2) > 15 % flame/electric/scald/chemical (2nd and 3rd degree) burns 3) Time elapsed since burns not > 12 hrs an

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1) 2) 3) Index presentation > 12 hours 4) Pregnant patients 5) Known comorbidities like COPD, CKD, CLD and CHF 6) Who received fluids other than RL and isotonic bicarbonate prior to admission
