Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Individuals with between age of 18-60 years. 2. Participants who have not received periodontal therapy, in the previous six months. 3. Participants who readily give informed consent for the study. 4. Systemically healthy patients. 5. Participants with gingival index less than or equal to 2mm, plaque index less than or equal to 2mm, clinical attachment level equal to 0, probing depth less than equal to 3mm will be included as periodontally healthy. 6. Participants with gingival index more than equal to 2, plaque index more than or equal to 2mm, probing depth less than or equal to 4mm, mostly horizontal bone loss, clinical attachment level 1-2 mm affecting more than or equal to 30% teeth involved with radiographic bone loss extending to the coronal-third (less than 15%) and no teeth loss due to periodontitis will be included as stage 1 grade A periodontitis.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Consumption of tobacco in any form and alcoholics. 2. Pregnant and lactating females. 3. Participants who have received anti-inflammatory, antibiotic and steroid drugs in previous six months.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
1. To determine the level of Fetuin A in saliva of periodontally healthy patients. 2. To determine the level of Fetuin A in saliva of Stage 1 GRADE A periodontitis. 3. To determine the levels of Fetuin A in saliva after scaling and root planning in periodontitis patients. 4. To compare the level of Fetuin A in saliva of periodontally healthy and Stage 1 GRADE A periodontitis. 5. To compare salivary levels of Fetuin A before and after scaling and root planing in Stage 1 Grade A periodontitis patients.Timepoint: at baseline and 3 months after scaling and root planing

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
To correlate salivary levels of Fetuin A with clinical parameters likePlaque Index (PI), Gingival Index (GI),Probing Depth (PD), Clinical Attachment Level (CAL) and Bleeding on Probing (BOP)Timepoint: Plaque index, gingival index, pocket probing depth and clinical attachment level in patients with chronic periodontitis will be taken at baseline and then 3 months after scaling and root planing
