Health Condition 1: E119- Type 2 diabetes mellitus without complications

Interventions

Intervention1: m-Health: Watsapp messages will be sent in the smart phones of the patient twice a week for four months. Control Intervention1: No intervention: NIL

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.Adults in the age group of 30 - 59 years who are physician diagnosed case of type 2 Diabetes Mellitus and on medication for more than 6 months. 2.Literate adults (English and/or Hindi) having a personal smart phone with access to internet. 3.Participant residing in the area for atleast 6 months.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Adults with contraindication to physical activity. 2.Adults with history of Cardiovascular accident, Coronary Vascular Disease, hospitalization, in the last 6 months. 3.Adults with serious Mental illness and/or advanced complications of diabetes.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Mean difference of step counts per day in control & interventional groups.Timepoint: Baseline during enrollment and then at the end of 4 months from enrollment.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
1.Mean difference of glycated Hemoglobin (HbA1C) in control & interventional groups. 2.Mean difference of Lipid profile in control & interventional groups. 3.Mean difference of weight in control & interventional groups. 4.Mean difference in the waist circumference in control & interventional groups.Timepoint: Baseline investigation during enrollment & at the end of four months.
