Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Age more than 65 years Patients undergoing elective surgery under general anesthesia ASA classification I & II

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Hemodynamically unstable patients and those with cardiovascular or respiratory comorbidity Major peripheral vascular disease Increased intra-abdominal pressure Autonomic nervous system disorders Anticipated difficult airway BMI more than 30 Kg/m2 Documented negative fluid balance > 1000 ml on preceding day Pheochromocytoma Agitation (RASS > 1) Absolute or relative contraindications to general anesthesia Patients who have currently taken angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor or angiotensin receptor blocker patients with a baseline systolic blood pressure less than 90 mmHg or mean arterial blood pressure less than 70 mmHg Patient with a history of any previous abdominal surgery or trauma Patient with any cardiac rhythm other than normal sinus rhythm, and have/had cardiomyopathy

MeasureTime frame
To correlate preoperative caval aortic index and percentage decrease in mean arterial pressure after induction of general anesthesia in elderly patients. Timepoint: baseline, at 1 min after induction, at 2 min after induction, at 3 min after induction, immediately after intubation, at 5 min after intubation, at 10 min after intubation.

MeasureTime frame
To compare the accuracy of preoperative values of caval aortic index and ratio of maximum diameter of Inferior Vena Cava (IVC) at the end of expiration and IVC Collapsibility index (dIVCmax/IVCCI) in prediction of hypotension after induction of general anesthesia in elderly patients. Timepoint: 1 year 6 months
