Interventions

Control Intervention1: Intravenous dexmedetomidine: Dexmedetomidine (1 mcg/kg) added to 100 ml normal saline and it is given 10 mins prior to surgery .Block will be given with 0.5% Bupivacaine (10 ml)

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients undergoing upper limb surgeries under supraclavicular brachial plexus blockas sole anaesthesia 1)ASA physical status I,II,III, Age between 18 years to 65 years

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: In cases where the anaesthetic plan changes after giving block

To compare the toal duration of analgesia between perineural with intravenous dexmedetomidine in combination with 0.5% bupivacaine in USG GUIDED supraclavicular brachial plexus blockTimepoint: Time of onset of block to first rescue analgesia.Will assessed every 5 mins after giving the block till NRS score 0

MeasureTime frame
To compare 1)Onset of blockade 2)Quality of blockade 3)Level of sedation 4)Heamodynamics 5)Total rescue analgesia given in the first 24 hour postoperative periodTimepoint: Onset of sensory & motor blockade-will assess every 5 mins up to 2 hrs in intraop & 2 hrs in postop. Level of sedation- will be assessed every 30 mins till the patient gets discharged from the postop ward. Haemodynamics changes- wii be assessed every 5 mins till 2 hrs in postop ward. Quality of block .at the time of skin incision
