Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patient with Gall Stone Disease Patient undergoing the elective Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients who will be undergoing emergency LC Patients who received antibiotics for any infectious condition prior to 7 days of surgery Patients with immunodeficiency disease or on immunosuppressive therapy Patients with acute cholecystitis, cholangitis , bile duct stone, obstructive jaundice, , biliary pancreatitis who underwent ERCP within one week h/o previous biliary surgery Patients with piperacillin and tazobactam hypersensitivity

Primary

MeasureTime frame
To compare the postoperative SSI among patients undergoing elective laparoscopic cholecystectomy with and without bile spillage. Timepoint: Patients will be followed up in General Surgery OPD, AIIMS Bathinda, at 7th day and at 30th day and will be assessed for surgical site infection. .

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
To correlate the incidence of SSI with culture of bile To correlate the incidence of SSI with culture of gall bladder stone. Microbiological correlation of bile and gall bladder culture with SSI Timepoint: We send the culture specimen (bile and gall bladder stone) immediately after the surgery We send discharge of suspected surgical site infection whenever it is noticed with in 30 days of surgery
