Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: ASA grade I and II, Elective surgeries under general anaesthesia requiring endotracheal intubation

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Anticipated difficult airway 2. Patients with BMI >30kg/m2 3. Patients with known allergy to dexmedetomidine or lignocaine 4. Patients with cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases 5. Pregnancy 6. Patients with basal heart rate 7. Patients on beta blockers 8. Patients requiring more than one attempt at intubation 9. Laryngoscopy and intubation time more than 30 seconds
