Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: All tracheostomized patients - above the age of 18 who are discharged from our hospital on tracheostomy tube and require tracheostomy tube care at home or visit the Department of ENT for tracheostomy tube care and further management.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Poor pulmonary functions with oxygen dependence at the time of evaluation 2. Unreliable caregiver 3. Patient not co-operative to complete the study protocol

MeasureTime frame
To evaluate if provision of pictorial representation of the standardized tracheostomy care reduces the incidence of tracheostomy tube related adverse events as compared to verbal counselling/ non-pictorial demonstration of the standardized tracheostomy care.Timepoint: 1 month

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
To evaluate if pictorial representation of the standardised tracheostomy care enables better understanding of the care & eases the anxiety amongst the patient bystanders & caregivers.Timepoint: 1 month
