Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.patients with grade 2-4 cataract according to LOCS III 2.patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus of upto 10 yrs. 3.patients with diabetic retinopathy and macular edema present or absent. 4.patient who is willing to provide informed consent .

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.traumatic cataract 2.pseudo exfoliation syndrome 3.glaucoma 4.corneal dystrophy 5.complicated cataract which includes lens induced glaucoma 6.post uveitis cataract 7.subluxated lens 8.previous intra- ocular surgery 9.intraoprative complications during cataract surgery 10.high myopia and high hyperopia 11.age younger than 40 yrs 12.preoperative endothelial cell count less than 1000 cells per square mm 13.patients lost to follow up
