Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Primary: To compare the effectiveness of erector spinae plane block with intravenous opioids for ameliorating pain in patients presenting to the emergency department with acute pancreatitis.Timepoint: Hourly pain assessment

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
To compare the variations in physiological parameters such as blood pressure, pulse rate & oxygen saturation in patients within the intravenous opioids group as opposed to the ESPB group. To compare the safety, efficacy and feasibility of application of the ESPB as opposed to intravenous opioids in patients with acute pancreatitis.Timepoint: hourly assessment of blood pressure, pulse rate & oxygen saturation.
