Interventions

Intervention1: Mango: 250g of mango pulp and 200ml of toned milk for 2 months in breakfast. Control Intervention1: Bread: 3 sliced of white bread and 200ml of toned milk for 2 months in breakfast.

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: For patients with diabetes: a) Stable glycemic control on metformin or sulfonyleurea for past 3 months b) without any major complication c) HbAIc less than 8%

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: For both groups a) Acute infections and advanced end-organ damage b) History of hepatitis or pancreatitis, abnormal liver and renal functions c) Recent ( d) Any known allergy to mangoes and bread e) Subjects with hypothyroidism f) On any drug causing weight gain or weight loss

1. Exploratory Acute Phase: To investigate glycemic response of mango intake by evaluating glycemic response & oral glucose tolerance testing. 2. Exploratory Sub-acute Phase: To evaluate blood glucose levels by continuous glucose monitoring system. 3. Confirmatory Chronic Phase: To determine intermediate term effect of mango ingestion on glycemia (blood glucose, fructosamine), insulin resistance (HOMA-IR, adiponectin levels) & body composition (anthropometry & TANITA scan).Timepoint: 18 months
