Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: The patients of age 18-70yrs of either gender of ASA category II and III who was scheduled for elective cardiac surgery under general anaesthesia and required intraoperative monitoring of TEE for open cardiac surgery or aortic surgery, and agreed to be enrolled

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients with oropharyngeal infection or neck pain Patients with oropharyngeal tumors Any esophageal disease

Primary

MeasureTime frame
To determine the incidence of oropharyngeal injury, which was defined as blood at the tip of the TEE probe at the end of surgery and/or evidence of injury on VL examination at the end of surgery. Timepoint: VL examination at the end of surgery.
