Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. American Society of Anaesthesiologists Physical Status I and II patients. 2. Patients undergoing elective laparoscopic surgery under general anaesthesia, lasting upto 2 hours . 3. Both male and female patients in the age group 18â??60 years.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Patient refusal or unwillingness to participate in the study. 2. ASA>=III 3. Patients allergic to dexmedetomidine. 4. Those who have coexisting cardio-respiratory disease e.g. ventricular dysfunction. 5. Patients with AV Block. 6. Patients on chronic beta blocker and opioid therapy. 7. Metabolic disease, endocrine disease, renal disease 8. Patients with morbid obesity i.e., BMI>=30 Kg/m2. 9. Pregnancy and lactation
