Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Adults, both males and females aged between 18 to 70 years of age, who have encountered polytrauma less than 12 hours prior to admission and who will have an injury severity score of >16
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: a) Poly trauma cases that have received prior treatment for more than 6 hours in a tertiary care centre and then been shifted/sent to this hospital for further management b) Patients who have already received blood transfusion c) Patients who are on anti coagulants or dual anti platelet therapy d) Patients with severe traumatic brain injury e) Jehovas witnesses f) Patients with burns, known hepatic disorders, renal failure, malignancy, shock due to spinal trauma, pre-hospital cardiac arrest, drug poisoning g) patients who refuse treatment, h) Pregnant women i) Conditions predisposing to altered lactate levels: heart failure, respiratory failure, liver disease, severe dehydration
