Design outcomes
Primary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| To compare the surgical stress response in terms of cortisol, glucose, lactate & total leucocyte levels between Total Intravenous Anaesthesia & Balanced Anaesthesia in patients undergoing minimally invasive lumbar spine surgery Timepoint: 1.Baseline sampling for cortisol, glucose, lactate, total leucocyte count will be done at the time of drawing blood for routine preoperative investigations 1 day prior to surgery.. 2.Blood sampling for the assessment of cortisol , glucose, lactate, total leucocyte count will be done postoperatively 2 hours after the surgery | — |
Secondary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| To analyze the incidence of Post operative nausea & vomiting between the groups.Timepoint: From extubation till 2 hours post surgery; To compare the intraoperative fentanyl usage between the two groups.Timepoint: From induction of anaesthesia till extubation; To compare the intraoperative hemodynamic variables between the two groups. Timepoint: Hemodynamic parameters (Heart rate, Systolic & diastolic blood pressure, mean arterial pressure, oxygen saturation, EtCO2) will be monitored at baseline, post induction, post intubation every 5 mins for the first half an hour, every 15 minutes till the end of procedure and 5 mins post extubation. | — |
