Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: All patients who need a central venous catheter in the ICU as a part of their management .
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Refusal from patient Central venous catheter insertion in emergency Infection at the site of insertion Restless or irritable patient Failure to cannulate the desired vein Severely deranged coagulopathy Thrombosed vein Pneumothorax or hemothorax Previous neck surgeries

| To compare the time required for ultrasound-guided cannulation of IJV & SCVTimepoint: Cannulation time- duration in seconds from the start of insertion of the introducer needle to the return of darker coloured blood in the syringe attached to it.
