Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Patients of age 18- 80 years. 2. Patients fulfilling American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA)18 physical status I, II & III criteria. 3. Patients with preoperative Numerical Rating Scale (NRS) score >3.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Coagulopathy. 2. Infection at the site of injection. 3. Allergy to local anaesthetics. 4. On opioids for chronic pain.

Duration of analgesia (time for first request of analgesia).Timepoint: 24 hours in post operative period—

1. Mean Numerical Rating Scale (NRS) score post block over 24 hours. 2. Ease of spinal positioning (EOSP) score 30 mins after the block. 3. Total consumption of additional postoperative analgesic medication in 24 hrs. 4. Post-operative quadriceps femoris weakness assessed by Medical Research Council (MRC) score. 5.
