Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Mallampatti score I & II (Airway assessment to assess the mouth opening) 2. American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) Physical status I & II 3. Patient scheduled for surgery under general anaesthesia with orotracheal intubation in supine position. 4. Those who were to remain in the hospital for at least 24 hours postoperatively.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Patients posted for emergency surgeries. 2. Patients undergoing oral cavity surgery, cervical spine surgery and thyroid surgery. 3. Patients requiring a nasogastric tube. 4. History of perioperative sore throat.
