Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: all patients of chronic liver disease of varied etiology of above 15 years with ascites

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Patient who already received treatment (antibiotics) before admission into hospital 2. Patients of ascites with surgical source of infection intraabdominally eg - perforation of intestine, traumatic causes of peritonitis. 3. Patients who had undergone large volume paracentesis with in 10 days prior to admission into hospital
