Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Children with sepsis - SIRS with evidence of infection (suspected/ proven) admitted to the Department of Paediatrics, KMC Manipal.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Children with chronic liver disease, rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease, autoimmune disease, malignancy, Haemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH). 2. Children with iron overload conditions such as hemochromatosis, thalassemia, recent history of transfusion (last 4 months), sideroblastic anemia. 3. Parents who deny consent.

MeasureTime frame
To correlate serum ferritin levels with mortality & morbidity in children with sepsis.Timepoint: 2 years;To correlate serum ferritin levels with PIM 3 score at admission. Timepoint: 2 years
