Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Adult (18 to 65 years), both sexes, 2. ASA PS I, II 3. Patients undergoing elective Lumbo-sacral spine surgery in prone position where duration of prone position is expected to be more than two hours.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Patientâ??s refusal to participate in the study 2. Pre-existing Modified Mallampati (MMP) grade 3 and 4 3. Pathology of cervical spine 4. Pre-existing oropharyngeal pathology, inability to fully open mouth for assessment, severely limited neck mobility 5. History of difficult intubation or mask ventilation 6. History of neck and cervical spine surgery 7. Patients not extubated on OT table & Re-intubated within first 24 hours 8. Trauma during laryngoscopy 9. In anticipated and unanticipated difficult airway patients â?? Cushing disease, Hypothyroidism etc 10. Pregnancy 11. Expected duration of prone position less than two hours 12. Evaluation of the patient does not feasible in the postoperative period.

To assess the change in modified Mallampati grade, after Lumbosacral spine surgery in the prone positionTimepoint: 30 mins, 2 hours, 4 hours, 6 hours & 24 hours after extubation

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
To assess the change in Mentohyoid distance after surgery in prone position. Timepoint: 30 mins, 2 hours, 4 hours, 6 hours & 24 hours after extubation;To assess the change in skin to hyoid bone (SHB) distance measured by ultrasound after surgery.Timepoint: 30 mins, 2 hours, 4 hours, 6 hours & 24 hours after extubation;To assess the change in skin to vocal cord distance measured by ultrasound after surgery.Timepoint: 30 mins, 2 hours, 4 hours, 6 hours & 24 hours after extubation;To assess the change in Thyromental distance after surgery in prone position. Timepoint: 30 mins, 2 hours, 4 hours, 6 hours & 24 hours after extubation;To assess the time required for these changes (clinical and ultrasound parameters) to revert back to preoperative state.Timepoint: 30 mins, 2 hours, 4 hours, 6 hours & 24 hours after extubation;To find correlation between significant airway change defined as increase/change of modified Mallampati class by at least one point with various perioperative parameters like attempts for successful intubation, duration of prone position, duration of surgery, the quantity of intraoperative fluids and blood loss.Timepoint: Postoperative
