Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.Subjects aged between 18 to 60 years will be selected irrespective of gender, occupation, religion & socioeconomic status. 2. Subjects fulfilling the diagnostic criteria.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Systemic diseases like Sjogren’s syndrome, Rheumatoid arthritis, uncontrolled Diabetes mellitus. 2.Dry Eye due to direct physiological effect of substances like drug abuse, medications like Antidepressants, Diuretics, Antihistamines, Beta blockers. Any ocular infections.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
To evaluate the effect of Jeevaniya Panchamoola Ghrita Netra Tarpana in Shushkakshipaka. Assessment will be done by Schirmer test and Tear film break up time.Timepoint: 4 weeks

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
To assess the reduction in the symptoms of Shushkakshipaka like Gharsha (Foreign body sensation), Toda (Pricking pain), Medopadehavat ( mucoid discharge), Kruchra unmeelana nimeelanam (Difficulty in opening and closing the eyelids), Vikunana (Constriction of the eye),Vishushkatva (Dryness), Shoola (Non specific ocular discomfort),Paaka (Chronically sore eyes),Ruksha daruna vartmakshi. Assessment will be done with the help of gradings. Timepoint: 4 weeks
