Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: All the cultures negative for the Burkholderia genus.

Design outcomes

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Local and national governing bodies will obtain more information on melioidosis, from research that will arise from this initiative and will help shape guidelines and management strategies at various levels of healthcare and societal hierarchies.Timepoint: Laboratory assesment of isoaltes/samples with a week of sample reception.

Primary

MeasureTime frame
The study will help in observing the incidence of melioidosis and identifying patterns of clinical manifestations. A major outcome is the maintenance of a repository of B. pseudomallei isolates for future research, to understand the clonal relatedness of our B. pseudomallei isolates with those isolated in other endemic regions. With the collection of isolates in this study, we will be better equipped to help determine the true epidemiology of melioidosis in India.Timepoint: Baseline, 52 weeks
