Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. All the treatment naive type I or type 2 diabetes mellitus patients with proliferative diabetic retinopathy without vitreous hemorrhage and clinically significant macular edema presenting to Ophthalmology OPD during study period. 2. Patients with adequate pupil dilatation and clear media to perform laser photocoagulation, digital photography and OCT scans. 3. If patient having PDR in both the eyes then worst eye will be analyzed in the study.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Previous H/o laser photocoagulation to the eye under question. 2.Diabetic macular edema >300 microns in eye being studied. 3.Previous vitreoretinal surgery. 4.Patients with PDR with RD, non-resolving vitreous hemorrhage, fibrovascular proliferation. 5.Patients receiving intravitreal anti-VEGF in past 3 months for PDR with Diabetic macular edema (DME). 6.Patients with significant cataract obscuring the retinal view. 7.Patient unable to sit for PRP laser therapy due to any systemic cause.

1.It is expected that in PDR patients following panretinal photocoagulation there will be regression of neovascularisation which can be complete or incomplete in some areas which will differ from patient to patient. 2.There will be stabilisation of the best corrected visual acuity after panretinal photocoagulation. Timepoint: 3 months
