Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
To compare the effects of a 6-month yoga-based lifestyle intervention in patients with obesity & comorbid depression (including MDD) with respect to changes in: 1. stress, inflammation and neuroplasticity in gene expression & blood biomarkers 2. cellular ageing (telomere/telomerase) 3. ultrastructural changes in select cell organelles 4. pain profile (Quantitative sensory testing) 5. BMI, depression level, and quality of life Timepoint: There will be four time points: at baseline, after 1 month, after 3 months and after 6 months.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
To compare the effects of a 6-month yoga based lifestyle intervention in patients with obesity & comorbid depression (including MDD) with respect to changes in cytokines of stress, inflammation and/or neuroplasticity Timepoint: There will be four time points: at baseline, after 1 month, after 3 months and after 6 months.
