Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Patients who complied with the 2012 Berlin definition diagnostic criteria for moderate to severe ARDS, including P/F 2. Patient >18 years of age.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. patients 2. pregnancy 3. chest trauma or bandaging of chest wall 4. thoracic deformity 5. pneumothorax 6. massive pleural effusion 7. h/o pulmonary alveolar disease 8. severe haemodynamic abnormalities 9. severe heart failure 10. acute coronary syndrome 11. patient undergoing extracorporeal membrane oxygenation 12. New pulmonary infection 13. Pulmonary edema 14. fat, air, amniotic fluid embolism 15. abdominal hypertension 16. Endotracheal tube displacement 17. Lobar collapse

MeasureTime frame
All cause 28 days mortality. Change in bronchial aspirate interleukin 6 from baseline as assessed on day 1 & day 5 of mechanical ventilation. Change in LUS from baseline as assessed on first 7 days of mechanical ventilation. Timepoint: 7days & 28 days
