Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Subjects aged =40 years Low back pain (defined as pain between the lower rib cage and gluteal folds) Pain =3 on a 10-cm visual analog scale

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: History of any neurological, psychological and psychiatric disorders Recognizable, known specific spinal pathology, for a period of at least twelve weeks Alcoholism and other drug abuse An increase of pain of 3 points with a result of >8/10 on the Numeric Pain Rating Scale (NPRS) in the last 48 hours Rehabilitation/exercise therapy program in the past 6 months Uncontrolled arrhythmias History of myocardial infarction Active angina Uncontrolled hypertension/diabetes Pregnancy Any systemic/respiratory illness that prevents subjects from participation in the study
