Eligibility
Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Cases: All antenatal or postnatal mothers with primary or secondary diagnosis of sepsis. Patients with two or more signs and symptoms of infection such as fever, tachycardia, tachypnea, hypotension, hyper/hypothermia, leucocytosis or altered mental status and at least 1 suspected source of infection such as mastitis, respiratory infections, cardiac dysfunction, cellulitis, fetal demise, unexplained fetal tachycardia, abdominal pain/distension, episiotomy or surgery site infection, urinary or catheter infections, IV line infection, neck stiffness with altered sensorium, PROM / PPROM or puerperal sepsis. Controls: antenatal and postnatal women admitted in obstetrics department with no signs of infection.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Women reviewing on out-patient basis and women who are immune compromised.
